The Legend of Holika and Prahlad

The Legend of Holika and Prahlad

There was once a devil master by the name of Hiranyakashyap who won over the country of world. He was so egoistic that he told everybody in his country to praise only him. But to his excellent frustration, his son, Prahlad became an fervent devotee of The almighty Naarayana and rejected to praise his dad. Hiranyakashyap tried several tips on how to eliminate his son Prahlad but The almighty Vishnu stored him each time. Lastly, he requested his sibling, Holika to get into a high flame with Prahlad in her lap. For, Hiranyakashyap realized that Holika had a advantage, whereby, she could get into the flame unaffected. Treacherously, Holika coaxed youthful Prahlad to sit in her lap and she herself took her chair in a high flame. The tale has it that Holika had to pay the cost of her scary wish by her lifestyle. Holika was not conscious that the advantage proved helpful only when she joined the flame alone. Prahlad, who kept chanting the name of The almighty Naarayana all this while, came out unscathed, as god endowed him for his excessive commitment. Thus, Holi comes its name from Holika. And, is famous as a celebration of success of excellent over wicked.
